Just wondering?   It would be nice to be able to test some of the new features, and fixes for both Live Content, and Slideshow before I finish any other webpages.

Thanks...

Simonduz,
like many other I'm sure you're eagerly waiting for the next release...

However, we go through extensive testing in hetereogenous environments and fix all known issues before a big release; v1.5 is a big release since it includes 2 new element types.

We don't have a scheduled release but we were aiming to get it our this week; hopefully next now :)

I never received a reply to my 1st help request.   NOT a big deal so please dont take offense to this.   But I was wondering how does a customer verify that the bugs are being "fixed".    Do you have a public log of bugs that have been submitted with your support tools?

At the moment we don't have a public log of bugs, module releases usually indicate the bugs that have been fixed.

but which version is the current version? 1.5 or  2.0? I just heard you mentioned "Events are introduced with v2.0; you'll be able to provide a custom function for on click, on close, on drag, and so on", I just need the functions much and I can track the user's click action so that I can decide which content is hot and popular?

The next version is 1.5.  not 2.0.

You may be able to count clicks now, if you call a function on every click. Once a popup is open, you can run a script on any event you want inside the module and have it update counters or hidden fields outside of the module.

Until I read this post I was under the misconception that the ability to call a function on open or close was going to be in 1.5.

Ive been waiting for the ability to call a javascript funcion on open and on close.  For some reason I misunderstood and thought that was going to be in 1.5. which is the next version, not 2.0, which isnt expected till later.

a while ago I submitted a request for some help with the the javascript API, which would give me the same functionality. as running javascript on open and on close.

I havent gotten a response yet, but when I do, and if I and am able to figure out how to call a popup from a javascript function, I will add to this post and tell you how to do it.Â

This may give you additional options.

Ray,
A quick hack was sent to you to get you started in calling custom functions before and after clicks.

You sir have a lack of self control. As for me, I have mastered the art of not thinking about this. I use special breathing techniques and ... Ok, Im lying! I check mandeeps.com almost every day to see if there is progress... I cant control myself, I am so weak. :)

Unexpected delay?   Just wondering because I had told some of my peers about a possible demo before the end of this week.   Do you think this might be possible?

Thanks..

Hi Mandeep,

Did this get released on Snowcovered? If so, it is not showing up under patches.

Thanks,

Rob Ralston

"The software is 99% ready,  it will be 99.9% ready tomorrow, and 99.99% ready the next day, and 99.999% ready the day after that...".

Rule of thumb with open source:

When any 3rd party module developer says something (other than a major bug fix) will be ready in a month, expect a half year.  When they say a week, expect a month or two.  When they say a day, expect a couple weeks.Â

At least they try to predict.  Core module developers almost never say when things will be ready. I think there is probably some secret email they get when they join a core.

Im sure Mandeep is doing his best.  I seriously doubt he is intentionally "keeping it under wraps".  At least his stuff works well when it is released.

Thanks Ray for your input.
We do understand the anticipation and appreciate the demand for our product. The release is ready; however, due to some administration and site performance issue it was pulled off.

As stated earlier in the post, it would be first released to subscribers of mandeeps.com and then it will be posted on Snowcovered.com

Subscribers of this site can expect the new release by Monday, July 7th, 2008

It would be posted on Snowcovered.com by July 9th, 2008

There are several new features and many other changes; a release log will be posted in Announcement Forum when the module is available to general public.

Thanks

Update:

v1.5 of Live Content is posted to subscriber downloads along with v1.2 of SlideShow addon. Please refer to the thread in subscribers downloads for details.

We're still on track for public release (snowcovered) by July 9th, 2008.

Just as closure to this thread I would like to add a Thank You for the release.

I just installed the new PA.Â
The install/upgrade on DNN 4.8 over the existing Live Content v1.2.2 was just fine, no errors.
A page refresh was needed to enable the existing elements.
I have already noticed some performance increase especially in content display, and moving multiple elements around a page.

Can't wait to read the completed docs..
Thanks.

Question 1:
How do I get to subscriber downloads ?

Question 2:
(and I feel kinda silly for asking this)
Why is it free to us? I mean I am overjoyed that it is, and I thank you for that. But seems a LOT of time and effort has gone into this for you. I, for one am looking forward to the release of 2.0... merely because I want to reward your fine efforts with some of my scarce cash (uh but not too much hopefully).
