| Live Content User Upload Module is now in development stages...a preview will be available sometime this month.

Administrator will be able to configure the module to allow either Pictures (ePicture), Videos (eVideo), and Content (eContent)
Picture Upload -User will be able to upload a picture -Optionally provide a title and a caption
Video Upload -User will be able to upload a video -User will be able to provide a link to Online Video sites (youtube, google, metacafe,etc...) -Optionally provide a title and caption
Admin can configure whether upload is allowed, links are allowed, or both are allowed...

Admin can configure whether HTML and/or Plain Text is allowed
Adminstrator will specify roles that can upload content. Administrator will also specify roles for moderation.

There will be an option to Auto Approve selected roles...
Please use this thread to provide feedback with any other features you would like to see in the initial release...Thanks

| Great news on this new Module!
In your descriptions you listed: -User will be able to upload a picture -User will be able to upload a video
Q: Will this also include using a ZIP file to bulk upload files?

| | I don't see how that would hurt; we'll introduce the ability to upload zip file (for epicture only). Of course the admin can disable that feature if they desire so... | | | |

| That is great news, thanx! I would like to make a suggestion though, can you make it that certain things are read only, e.g. thumbnail size, developer mode and things like that.
Secondly, this is getting to where I would lik to get on this one, and maybe I have missed something and this is possibel, but is there any way to create multipel album's with Live Content on a per user basis? If not are you planning something like this?
Thanx | | | |

| Here is another tought. I am not sure if this is an option in the current set up but I hav not found it. But, what would also be nice is if you can have a static path for uploads. I am thinking about using xMod an live content. Another thing that would go well with this is if you could default field, I am thinking specifically turning developer mode on, and also defaulting the developer tag to the name of the file. That would make custome coding easier.
Another thing, could you set maximum file size?
And would it be possibel to add a watermark to the uploaded images.
Hate to add work, but I love this mod, and I spend a lot of time thinking about what would make it better. This was one idea I had.
Cheers

| Could you further explain "static path for uploads"?
We do have "defaults" in mind for User Upload module...
Maximum file size as in physical size (kilobytes) or resolution of images?
Watermark capabilities will be included! As well as ability to overlay logos on videos...
We appreciate your feedback! Please continue to provide your valuable ideas...

| Forgot to address your other post, Instead of read only, we'll have the ability for admin to decide which fields are visible and which are not; the ones that are not visible can have a default value added.
With introduction of User Upload module, we'll have another option for Live Content to show elements of only logged in user. This would allow you to have your users view their own content only...

| With Image sie I meant both, file size and pixel's. I am just thinking of creating uniformity on the site.
Static path's for upload, I mean that for example each users files are uploaded to a directory using thier username. That way coding a custom for form using the static path becomes easy.

| With regard to file upload location, I had made a request early on in the old forums, but cannot find the post for reference.
What I would like to see is a file repository location defined by the administrator, rather than having it forced under the DNN portal folder structure. For example, the repository could be on another local drive, file share with UNC path, or even the database.
If you had a global setting for the repository, one that affected all modules in the portal, then you could still use your current subfolder structure under the adminstrator defined root path.
Bottom line, is I would like to see the files better protected by moving them out of the portal folder structure, as well as letting the admin determine where the best storage location is since the data requirements can grow quite large.
Also, because of the current storage scheme, even when a LiveContent module has controlled access via security roles, the URL to a specific picture allows annonymous access.
Of course, your proposed desktop application for user uploads would then need to handle the above situation without the need to give users read/write access to the repository location.

| Rob, we'll be allowing more flexibilty into data location in next version (v2.0) There are several things that we still need to workout; for example a repository based of database will not work because we're dynamically modifying the images (changing size, resolution, etc...) | | | |

| | I would love the ability to extract title and descriptions. My wife uses the built in photo gallery in Vista to add captions. It would be great if the description field was auto-populated with that caption. | | | |

| | Any ETA on when this module will be ready? I really love LoveContent, but am anxious to have a community version that will allow my readers to upload their photos! ;) | | | |

| Ability to extract metadata is a great suggestion; we'll try our best to accomodate this feature in v2.0
User Upload module will be part of v2.0
