Hi all,

what would be the easiest way to track the number of views/clicks on an eVideo element?

Thanks,

Peter

No easy way at the moment; however, this is planned along with rating, comments, etc...

Being able to track the number of views or downloads for the eVideo objects is very important for me.  When do you think this feature will be implemented?

Any workaround that could be used in the mean time?Â

Thanks,

Peter

Another idea.Â

Would Google Analytics help me?  I only need the stats on how many times a video was watched or downloaded.  It doesn't have to be shown on the webpage.

Would that work with Live Content elements?  Will the popup window contain the code that triggers the Google Java script?

No workaround at the moment; I'm expecting it to release with v1.5. Currently we're working on v1.3 and minor release is scheduled for each month.

Google Analytics will not help either...since the code to launch the element is always on the page (therefore google will show that it was viewed or clicked even though a user only visited the page)

I had a look in the Google Analitics documentation. It is possible to track special events for Google Analytics. Have a look at the following page: http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/topic.py?topic=11004

This can be used to track the download of files, flash events, jave script events, ...

Currently my page allows access directly via a video cloud module, the Live Content module and links inside the Ventrian NewsArticle module. I could add the tracking code to the links inside the Ventrian module. If I make the Live Conten module hidden, that shouls work in theory.
What do you think? I'm a programmer, but I'm not a web developer. My area of expertise is database systems and fat clients. :-)

It is not the nicest way, because I would loose direct access to the video modules, but is more important for me to track the number of clicks. I need this info for sponsors.

Lots of people are using Google Analytics. Perhaps it makes sense to offer support for it built in into the Live Content objects.

Hi PCDiver,
thanks for the link. Once we implement views, we'll include an option to enable Analytics Tracking as well...

If you must have it now, you can simply call the pageTracker._trackPageview("/YOURPAGEURL/IDENTIFIER")

We can tell you where to add this function if you open a support ticket; however, at this time we cannot implement this as we're not ready to support it. It will be implemented with other social networking features...Thanks

We hope that Live Content! would include RATING and COMMENTS as features.

The Community aspect of our website demands that people are able to rate and comment on what they hear and see.  Consider the number of existing examples of community content sites that enable such features including YouTube, Flickr, etc.  It makes sense that Live Content! should enable such functionality.Â

Will such functionality be included in the upcoming release?
