Subject: Live Content & Slide Show - Select portal folders

When entering an element on a module (image or video), it would be really nice if you could point to existing folders on the webserver (restricted to the specific portal if Admin or user) in addition to searching the local computer.  

For example, we use Simple Gallery from Ventrian Systems that allows users to upload various pictures (through an approval process) and create albums (BTW21.com).    The images are all kept in folders by album in a similar manner as with Live Content, so it would be really excellent if those image folders could be used for Live Content and the Slide Show Module.

Ideally, you could source images or videos from the other folders under the portal without having to duplicate them in the Live Content folders.   Create a Live content folder for images uploaded from the local client or use existing files.

If this isn't possible for Live Content, it would be sweet if at least the Slide Show module allowed selection of any folder under the portal.

We love the Live Content Module and Slide Show!

this would be introduced in Live Content in next MAJOR version since it requires lots of code change.

As for ability to select images for Sideshow, we're not too sure about that. The primary reason is that the module is included free with Live Content and it's development and maintenance expense is factored with Live Content sales.

If we remove the Live Content dependency (ability to specify your own images) then we'll have to sell the product separately from Live Content and charge for it.

Nonetheless, many of you have been asking for this feature and we're seriously thinking for an alternative.

This made me think of another feature that would be pretty cool. Could we use a filter or a tag for the slide show to filter the images we want to see?
